In 1984, Dr. Bert Bell, Director of Special Education for Saginaw Public Schools was approached by several freelance American Sign Language Interpreters with an idea to form a non-profit agency dedicated to providing much-needed American Sign Language services for students and adults within Michigan. VOICE, Inc. was granted Federal non-profit status on June 4, 1984 and opened a small office with 2 employees.
Through decades of commitment and hard work, in the early 2000s, VOICE, Inc. expanded from providing American Sign Language interpreters to deaf and hard of hearing individuals to offering Community Living Services and Supported Employment. Because of our quality of services and the need for additional resources VOICE, Inc. added Spoken Language Interpreting and Representative Payee Services. Our primary focus will always be to enrich the lives of those we support.
